PlanItGreen

Schools

All elementary, middle, and high schools within Oak Park and River Forest are invited to have students, PTO, parents, and staff participate in the PlanItGreen.

Get involved with the competitions happening right now:

PlanItGreen Art Competition

The PlanItGreen Art Competition encourages students to create artwork representing their vision of what a green or environmentally sustainable Oak Park and River Forest will look like.

To qualify, all entries must be on an 11" x 17" piece of paper. There are no restrictions on what techniques and materials can be used. Be creative!

On the back, include first and last name, art teacher, school, grade, and age. Entries will be judged by members of the Oak Park Arts Council and other community members. One winning submission will be selected for each grade level. The winners will be featured on VOP TV-6 and displayed at select local businesses and libraries.

All entries must be submitted by January 31, 2011. Schools should collect entries for pickup by Seven Generations Ahead, or they can be mailed to PO Box 3125, Oak Park, IL 60303.

Introducing the PTO Parent Challenge
Participation from community members is crucial to the plan’s success. We invite everyone to
share their ideas for how to create a sustainable future for our communities. The PTO Parent
Challenge is a friendly competition to see which PTO can engage the highest percentage of
parents in taking the PlanItGreen Survey. To qualify, survey respondents must indicate the
PTO with which they are affiliated and complete the survey by Wednesday, November 24.

PTO Parent Challenge

Thank you to everyone who participated in the PlanItGreen Survey! We're pleased to let you know that we received nearly 900 survey responses. As you know, we challenged all parents in the community to take the survey in an effort to win a prize for their child's school.

We'd like to send out a huge congratulations to the parents, teachers, staff, and students at Alcuin Montessori!!

Alcuin was the winner, with a 15% response rate. Parents and students from Alcuin Montessori will be invited to share their vision for an environmentally sustainable future in a segment on VOP TV-6. The winner was calculated based on the number of survey responses received that mentioned a specific school and the total student enrollment for that school. Results for all participating schools are listed below.

Congratulations also to Beye (OP D97), Lincoln (RF D90), and OPRFHS (D200) for having the highest raw total of survey respondents for OP and RF elementary, middle, and high school districts!

Thanks so much again to everyone who took the survey.
